Hello, and welcome to Pets in Space. This is the news feed for the Pets in Space Books website, the place for all things related to Pets in Space®.

I’m Carol Van Natta, the new organizer for the Pets in Space anthology series. My first voyage, as it were, will be the upcoming Pets in Space 6, slated for release in October 2021. Here’s how that came about.

Days Past

The series was first conceived and launched in 2015 by authors Pauline Baird Jones (http://paulinebjones.com/) and Veronica Scott (https://veronicascott.wordpress.com/). Their twin goals were to engage with pet-loving readers of science fiction romance and to raise money for a pet-related charity. They selected Hero Dogs (Hero-Dogs.org), a charity that raises, trains, and places support dogs with U.S. veterans and first-responders. They published five annual limited-edition anthologies through 2020, and donated more than $5,000 to Hero Dogs. The anthologies have made the USA TODAY bestseller list several times and have been selected for Library Journal awards.

In the crazy year of 2020, Pauline and Veronica  began looking for someone to take the helm, and my name came up via a mutual friend. I’ve written stories for three of the anthologies, and already love both the concept and the fabulous charity that the anthologies support. The chance to continue the mission was too good an opportunity to pass up.

Days Future

For Pets in Space 6, some authors will be returning favorites and some will be new. That number gives readers a nice buffet of stories to choose from without being overwhelming. Of course, these will be brand new stories, only available together for the life of the limited-edition anthology.

And by the way, we will most definitely keep our relationship with the Hero Dogs charity for as long as they’ll have us. Its mission to provide trained service dogs to disabled veterans and first-responders is a perfect match made in the stars for Pets in Space.

Again, welcome to Pets in Space, and happy to have you on board.
